Tzu Chi University Library Notification Statement of Personal Information Collection, Processing, and Utilization
1. Purpose for collecting personal data
To conduct resource utilization, interlibrary resource sharing, exchange and utilization, or related services authorized by individuals, the Library needs to collect your personal data. Specific purposes include:
a. Consumer and customer management & service (090).
b. Library and publication management (146).
2. Methods of collecting personal data / Sources of personal data
a) Transferring student personal data through various channels within the school.
b) Transferring personal data through Tzu Chi affiliate libraries.
c) Transferring personal data through cooperative units of interlibrary collaboration.
3. Categories of personal data collected
a. Personal identifiers (C001), government data identifiers (C003), personal descriptions (C011), etc., as detailed in assorted services, records, and application forms.
b. When you use various online resource services provided by the Library, the Library and database vendors will also use cookies for management and recording, including recording IP addresses, usage files, and times, etc.
4. Duration, region, target, and method of personal data utilization
a. Duration: The duration necessary for each service or the Library's executions of business declared by the purpose of collection.
b. Region: Taiwan (including Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, etc.) or regions where processing and utilization are authorized and agreed upon by the individual.
c. Targets:
i. Various management systems and electronic platforms used by the Library for providing services.
ii. Tzu Chi affiliate libraries (due to the shared library automation system).
iii. Cooperative units that have signed interlibrary collaboration agreements with the Library.
d. Methods: Execution of businesses declared by the purpose of collection, and necessary contacts, notifications, statistical analysis, and offsite backups for business execution.
5. Provision of personal data
a. You may freely choose whether to provide relevant personal data; however, if you refuse to provide personal data, the Library will be unable to provide related services.
b. Please provide your accurate, up-to-date, and complete personal data according to the requirements of each service. If your personal data changes, please apply for an update with the Library.
c. If you provide incorrect, outdated, incomplete, or misleading information that damages your related rights, the Library will not be liable for any compensation.
6. Confidentiality of personal data
The Library will fulfill its responsibility to protect personal data. In case of theft, leakage, tampering, or other infringements of your personal data due to natural disasters, incidents, or other force majeure, the Library will notify you through appropriate methods such as phone calls, emails, or website announcements, after verification.
7. Rights of the data subject concerning personal data
You may exercise the following rights regarding your personal data held by the Library, in accordance with Article 3 of the Personal Data Protection Act:
a. Request inquiry or access.
b. Request a copy.
c. Request supplementation or correction.
d. Request deletion or cessation of collecting, processing, or utilizing.
However, if it is necessary for the Library to execute its business, it may not comply with the request.
